Earl DeWitt Ogle, 60, of Plymouth, passed away on November 6, 2024, at Loyola Hospital in Chicago, Illinois surrounded by his family.
Earl was born to Robert and Ellen (Curless) Ogle on July 10, 1964. He was a graduate of Tippecanoe Valley High School and attended Ivy Tech studying Culinary Arts. It was there that he met and fell in love with Karen Sandy. They were married on February 7, 1987 in her hometown of Gomer, Ohio. In 2011, they completed their family with a daughter, Anna.
Earl had a love for the outdoors and playing golf which led to his career as a golf course superintendent. He worked for many golf courses, such as Noblehawk, Mystic Hills, and Knollwood. His final position being at Pretty Lake Gold Club west of Plymouth. He attended several golf fundraisers, golf outings, conventions and learning seminars with his good friend, Rod Ringer. He had a cat, Minnie, and dog, Emma, as well as his golf course dog, Zhen. Earl and Zhen were often found chasing geese off the golf course.
Earl was an avid Notre Dame and NASCAR fan. He was a member of the National Golf Course Association of America and served as its president of the local Hoosier Golf Course Association.
Earl was a loving husband and dad, taking Anna to her cheer events. They shared a special father/daughter bond, and she will miss him dearly, as will Karen and the rest of his family.
Earl is survived by his wife, Karen, of Plymouth, Indiana, daughter, Anna, at home, his mother, Ellen Ogle, of Noblesville, Indiana, sister, Jeannette Champion of Noblesville, Indiana, sister-in-law, Rhonda Stubbs, of Elkhart, Indiana, brother-in-law, Wayne Sandy, of Aubrey, Texas, nieces, Megan Champion of Noblesville, Indiana, Kelsey (Cory) Chrisman of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and Lauren Stubbs of Indianapolis, Indiana, nephew, Brett Sandy, of Aubrey, Texas, and great nephew and niece, Henry and Nora Chrisman, of Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
A time of visitation will be held at the Pretty Lake Country Club on State Road 17, west of Plymouth, on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, from 10:00 - 12:00 pm EDT. Rev. Amanda Moseng will officiate the service at noon. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery in Culver.
Memorial donations may be made to a fund being set up by Plymouth schools for Anna's education.
